Kinbaku Studio
Shibari can be practiced almost anywhere, but a space specifically equipped for tying offers the best conditions for versatile work. An inspiring environment for bondage isn’t always possible at home, and larger clubs don’t necessarily offer the intimate, calm atmosphere you’re looking for.
Kinbaku Studio Kanslia offers studio space for those moments when you want to settle into bondage with your partner, friends, or a small group. The furnishings support floor bondage and many kinds of suspensions. The space also has a selection of tools you can use alongside bondage for sensory play.
Equipment
The bondage area is an authentic rice-straw tatami, 2 m × 2.7 m. Made from natural materials, it is warm in winter, cool in summer, suitably slippery for moving the body, soft on the knees but firm underfoot. It also works well for lying down during aftercare. Kanslia has pillows and blankets so you can relax comfortably after tying.
Above the tatami is a 2-metre bamboo beam whose height you can adjust to your preference. You can also swap the beam for a ring. If you like, we can set up the ring for you in advance. There are ladders in the space, so the change is easy.
Next to the tatami is a Hashira pole for vertical-beam suspensions. This style is striking and much more intense than suspending from a horizontal beam. The pole is securely fixed and usually already has tie-off ropes in place, so you don’t need to spend studio time on setup. If needed, we can help and guide you in preparing the vertical beam for your use.
Other equipment includes a selection of bamboo sticks and beams, a portable full-length mirror, stone weights, various sensory-play tools, loan ropes, carabiners, webbing loops, and more.
